Word & Seed is a Scripture-centered Christian ministry founded by Bible teacher and author Rachel G. Scott.
At the heart of everything we do is a simple mission: to help you become more aware of God’s presence, deepen your relationship with Him, and grow in your understanding of Scripture through intentional Bible study.
Because time with God should shape more than the few minutes we spend reading our Bible. His Word should become something we understand, cherish, meditate on, and carry with us into everyday life.
That is what we are growing here.
Planted. Watered. God gives the increase.
One of the Scriptures at the heart of Word & Seed is 1 Corinthians 3:6:
“I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase.”
We believe our responsibility is to faithfully plant and water the seeds of God’s Word.
We study. We teach. We create resources. We gather in community. We make space to slow down, ask questions, meditate on Scripture, and better understand what we are reading.
But God is the One who brings the growth.
That conviction shapes everything Word & Seed creates, from a Bible study or journal to a teaching, community gathering, worship experience, or resource you find here in the shop.
The expression may change.
The purpose remains the same.
To help you know God, understand His Word, and grow in your relationship with Him.
Scripture is meant to be more than something we read.
It can be easy to open the Bible, read a passage, close it, and still wonder how it fits into everything else.
How does this connect?
Why does this matter?
What was happening when this was written?
How does the Old Testament connect with the New Testament?
And what does understanding any of this mean for the way I actually live?
At Word & Seed, we believe Scripture should not simply be read. It should be intentionally studied, understood, cherished, meditated on, and lived out.
Understanding the Bible leads to loving the Bible, and loving the Bible leads to living it.
That is why our resources are designed to help you slow down and engage Scripture thoughtfully. Not simply to give you more Christian content to consume, but to help you spend intentional time with God and His Word.
How Word & Seed grew
A note from Rachel
I didn’t set out to become a Bible teacher.
For a long time, I thought I was going to be a gospel singer. I could hold down the alto section, okay? That was the plan.
But God began redirecting me.
He led me into writing, and over time He began drawing me deeper into His Word.
I’ve watched my father study the Bible consistently. He was simply a faithful student of the Word. That example became ingrained in me.
Eventually, I found myself becoming one too.
There wasn’t one dramatic moment when I suddenly understood the Bible. I just knew I wanted more than reading passages without really understanding how everything connected.
So I kept studying.
One of the turning points for me came when I began understanding the role of the twelve tribes of Israel throughout Scripture. Names and stories I had skimmed past started connecting. The Old and New Testaments stopped feeling like separate parts of the Bible and began looking more like what they had always been: one beautifully connected story pointing us back to God and ultimately to Jesus.
And I couldn’t keep what I was learning to myself.
I started sharing it.
People started listening.
And along the way, I became what I still call myself today: a student teacher.
I’m still learning.
I still ask questions.
I still open commentaries and other resources.
I still have moments when something finally makes sense and I think, Wait a minute. How did I never see that before?
Then I turn around and share what I’m learning with you.
That posture is still at the heart of Word & Seed.
We are students of the Word.
You don’t have to be a scholar. You just have to be willing to be a student.
You do not have to know everything before you open your Bible.
You do not need a seminary degree to ask better questions, understand biblical context, recognize the connections throughout Scripture, or grow in your ability to study the Word for yourself.
You can begin where you are.
Bring your Bible.
Bring your questions.
Bring your willingness to learn.
Sometimes that means sitting down with a companion study guide and working through a passage slowly.
Sometimes it means listening to a teaching during your commute and returning to the Scripture later.
Sometimes it means writing the Word by hand.
Sometimes it means gathering with other believers who are just as hungry to understand Scripture as you are.
And sometimes it simply means opening your Bible again with fresh eyes and asking the Lord, “What do You want me to see?”
What Word & Seed looks like today
Today, Word & Seed serves students of the Word through Bible studies and companion study guides, printed journals, books, digital resources, biblical teaching, Summer in the Psalms, Deeper Roots communities, worship experiences, and other opportunities to intentionally spend time with God.

But our goal is bigger than building a store filled with Christian products.
We want this to be a resource destination.
A place where the journal you pick up encourages you to spend more time in Scripture.
Where the study guide helps you notice something you might have missed.
Where a teaching sends you back to your own Bible.
Where what you learn becomes something you meditate on, remember, and eventually live out.
Because the resource is never the destination.
God is.
His presence.
His Word.
A deeper relationship with Him.
